Our friend Skippy - Noosa Heads, Queensland.

Wild Dingo on a wild beach, Fraser Island

Alternative modes of transport - Golf Cart / Boats !!
Hamilton Island, Whitsundays

50 KM of empty beach, Fraser Island
We drove along the sands in a 4WD, 100KPH, quite an exhilirating experience and a lot less bumpy than N7 !!

Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. 35 KM wide, 140 KM long.
This is Lor at Lake Mackenzie after a dip in its crystal clear waters - and for a change there was nothing in the water that could sting, bite, grind, chew or strangle us to death.

It's all about the beaches. One of the four national passtimes here in Australia which are easy to remember - the four B's: the Bush, Beach, BBQ and Beer!
For those of you viewing this blog in rain-soaked Ireland we apologise for the sunny content.
For those who would like some sunshine on your desk - don't forget to check here again soon for updates!
G'DAY!!!!!

Week 1 Port Douglas, Queensland

Hi All,

The white building in the picture just of the fabulous beach was our first stop. This is Port Douglas in Queensland's far north. 90% humidity, 36 in the shade. Only thing to do is get on a boat and get out to sea. Snorkelling on the great barrier reef has been amazing. The only downside is wearing those lycra suits( see picture!!). We are not wearing these just to look like a pair of plonkers!! They are actually necessary unless you want to meet your maker by brushing against those tiny almost invisible box jellyfish - a sting generally proves fatal.
Sailing the coral sea for two days is the experience of a lifetime. This is a land of deserted beaches and fantastically coloured fish and corals. We have moved 800 KM's further south down the coast of Queensland which took 10 hours of driving. We are now exploring the Whitsunday Islands region. Taking a two hour ride in a seaplane tomorrow and will land on a desert island beach so watch here for pics.
Until then, as they say in these parts, G'Day to you all.

OK, just got a txt from the guys. They have touched down in Australia. Only took 34 hours and 5 airports to get to Cairns where it is currently a chilly 30 degrees.
Oh, and in case anyone was concerned I am settling into the cattery just fine!!!!

Welcome to the Big Trip!!

Yes, It's me, Missy! I have finally got my own website. Celebrity at last. This is of course just a first step in my plans for world domination. Check here regularly for interesting updates. Actually I am heading away on a bit of a trip to this great cattery in Celbridge - absolute luxury!!

Being a generous creature I have agreed to let Darren and Lorraine use my webpage to put up some snaps of their own trip. D will be putting up pictures of interesting buildings, trees, rocks and other rubbish ( quelle horreur!) while L will be sharing her insightful musings on the state of the universe, Australian wine, and how to get your entire wardrobe into a rucksack (repeatedly!).

Anyway its time for a nap.
Check back soon!
Au revoir
Missy
